36-year-old man in critical condition after being struck by a van in Quincy

A 36-year-old Quincy man is in “critical condition” after he was hit by a van on the Southern Artery between Brackett Street and McGrath Highway on Thursday morning, according to police.Quincy police announced that the highway was closed in both directions due to the crash just before 6 a.m. The driver of the van stayed on scene; the pedestrian was conscious and taken to Boston Medical Center.One northbound lane of the Southern Artery was reopened just after 6:15 a.m., authorities said. The Southern Artery southbound remained closed until about 7:15 a.m.“Our thoughts are with the pedestrian,” police said on Twitter.
