Bicyclist seriously injured when hit by tow truck in Allston

The truck's driver estimated the cyclist was in his early 20s and said the man appeared to have broken bones in his arms and legs.

A bicyclist was seriously injured when he was struck by a tow truck Tuesday night at an Allston intersection, the Boston Globe reported.

Bystanders estimated the crash happened around 10:30 p.m., and police set up a scene at the intersection of Linden Street and Brighton Avenue.

The truck driver, 39-year old Julian Rivera of Malden, told the Globe the cyclist ran a red light as he rode down Brighton Avenue. Rivera’s truck then hit the young man.

Rivera estimated the cyclist was in his early 20s and said the man appeared to have broken bones in his arms and legs.
