Jamaica Plain woman dies after being hit by car in Dedham
The driver of the car was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
A Jamaica Plain woman died Sunday after she was hit by a car outside a banquet hall in Dedham. Police identified her as 59-year old Charlene Lewis.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. Sunday at Moseley’s on the Charles’s banquet hall on Bridge Street, according to a statement from the Dedham Police Department.
WCVB 5 reported the car involved was a red Volkswagen Golf and the crash happened as an event was letting out of the venue.
Officers found Lewis lying in the street, the statement said. She was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she died a few hours later.
The driver of the car was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The incident is under investigation.
