East Bridgewater teen seriously injured after being hit by pickup while riding bike

A medical helicopter flew the 14-year-old boy to Massachusetts General Hospital.

A 14-year-old boy was hit by a pickup truck Monday while riding his bicycle in East Bridgewater. Officials say he was seriously injured.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. near 125 West St. (Route 106) and Church Avenue, according to a release.

The teen “came out from behind a van and attempted to cross Route 106,” the release said. He was then struck by the Honda Ridgeline truck traveling west on the highway.

A medical helicopter flew the boy to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The truck’s driver, a 64-year-old West Bridgewater man, stayed on scene.

East Bridgewater police are investigating the crash.
