Watch as a great white shark brushes by a boat off Cape Cod
The encounter happened Friday off Provincetown.
Video captured by boaters Friday off the shore of Provincetown shows a great white shark bumping up against their boat.
WBZ reported the encounter happened during a family boating trip. Those aboard — siblings Serena and Sean Colbert and their cousin, Mallory Fey, from Plymouth — guessed the shark was about 16 or 17 feet long.
“It definitely wasn’t scared of us,” Serena Colbert told the news station.
Across the bay, workers aboard a Boston Harbor Cruise boat recently spotted another shark, off Barnstable.
The videos come amid this summer’s spate of shark sightings, which have repeatedly closed down beaches.
At least a dozen sightings were reported Sunday off Cape Cod. The Boston Globe has recorded 50 shark-related beach closures on the Cape.
