Police seized 67 canisters filled with nitrous oxide outside of Fenway Park Friday that they say concert-goers used “to achieve a high.”

Before a concert, officers noticed people inhaling the gas from balloons outside the ballpark, Boston police said in a statement Sunday.

“The balloons were being filled using various canisters and subsequently discarded in the street and sidewalk,” the statement says.

Phish, the legendary jam band, returned to Fenway over the weekend, playing shows on both Friday and Saturday as part of their 26-date summer tour, while Anberlin and I The Mighty were set to take the stage at the House of Blues across the street Friday. Police didn’t specify which concert they were referring to in their statement.

Pictures released by the department show deflated balloons scattered around the area.

Officials said the canisters were brought to the Boston Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Unit for processing.
