The driver, a 27-year-old Stoughton man, was pronounced dead at Mass. General.
A 27-year-old Stoughton man is dead — and two of his passengers were injured — after the car he was driving rolled over on a closed section of Storrow Drive eastbound, near Clarendon Street, roughly two-and-a-half hours after the July 4th fireworks at the Esplanade, state police said.Alexander Galanis was driving a 2000 Cadillac sedan when the crash occurred early Friday morning, according to police. The vehicle came to rest on Back Street after hitting a building, and police were called to the scene around 1:35 a.m. Galanis was brought to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. One of the passengers, a 38-year-old man from Cape Coral, Florida, was brought to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The other passenger, a 32-year-old man from Fall River, was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.“Evidence suggests that prior to the crash, the operator drove around barriers at the Charlesgate East On-Ramps to enter the closed portion of Storrow Drive,” police said. The investigation is ongoing.
