Twin babies found near railroad tracks in Worcester, police say

The approximately 9-month-old boys appeared to be unharmed, authorities said.

Worcester police are investigating after twin baby boys were found near railroad tracks early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Police responded around 12:15 a.m. to a 911 call from railroad employees on Cambridge Street who found the approximately 9-month-old boys by themselves near Kansas Street, according to a statement from the Worcester Police Department.

“Paramedics responded and took the children to the hospital,” the statement says. “The babies appeared to be unharmed.”

Authorities said the twins have been identified and were taken into custody by the state Department of Children and Families.

Worcester detectives and the DCF are investigating the case, officials said. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to send an anonymous text to 274637 TIPWPD or send an anonymous message through the police website. Calls can be made to 508-799-8651.
