A 19-year-old Norwood man was arrested Friday morning after a race with another car on Interstate 95 in Westwood sent three people to the hospital, according to police.State police say David Hector was driving northbound on I-95 at about 5 a.m., allegedly racing his 2011 Chevrolet Malibu with a 2008 Hyundai Elantra operated by a 19-year-old Dorchester man. “As the vehicles were traveling just south of Exit 13 in Westwood, the Hyundai struck a 2001 Suzuki SUV, which was also traveling northbound at the time,” a release states. “Following that collision, the operator of the Hyundai lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rollover and crash.”The Hyundai’s driver and a 17-year-old female passenger were ejected from the vehicle, and both sustained serious injuries, police say. They were transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, respectively. The Suzuki’s driver was transported to Faulkner Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police say. Hector, who did not crash, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of drugs, racing a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation, according to the release. He was expected to be arraigned in Dedham District Court. Police were still investigating whether the driver of the Hyundai would face charges.
