Funeral services for Pelletier will be held Thursday in Lincoln, Rhode Island, according to her obituary. Her loved ones said the 20-year-old graduated from La Salle Academy in 2016 and had just completed her junior year at St. Leo University in Florida, where she was majoring in psychology and minoring in education.

“Her future dream was to complete graduate school and counsel children in hospital settings,” her family wrote in the obituary. “As a young girl and throughout college, she participated regionally and nationally in cheerleading and dance. She participated in the Patriots Junior Cheerleading program and for many years was with the Dance Theater of Rhode Island in Cumberland. She was a National Grand Champion in dance competition.”

When the 20-year-old was at home on school breaks, she worked at a daycare, where she was “adored” by her charges, they said.

Pelletier’s family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the RISPCA or another animal shelter to honor the 20-year-old’s “passionate love of animals.”
