Police: Several seriously injured in I-95 crash involving 8 vehicles in North Attleborough
The cause of the severe collision that hospitalized nine people remains under investigation.
Nine people were hospitalized Friday morning following a serious crash on I-95 in North Attleborough that involved eight vehicles and forced the closure of the highway for an hour, according to state police.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that around 6:20 a.m. a 29-year-old woman from Roslindale was driving in the right lane of I-95 South when she traveled into the middle lane, striking a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Both her vehicle and the pickup then crossed the median and entered the northbound travel lanes, crashing into six other vehicles.
The reasons for the Roslindale woman’s sudden departure from her lane remain under investigation, according to police.
The 29-year-old woman and her passenger, a 25-year-old Brockton woman, were both taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. The driver of the pickup, a 38-year-old Tewksbury man, was transported with minor injuries to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.
Police said six others were “all transported to R.I. Hospital and Sturdy Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries ranging from minor to serious.”
Those drivers were identified as a 57-year-old woman from Pawtucket, Rhode Island; a 29-year-old Randolf man; a 25-year-old Attleboro woman; a 55-year-old woman from Stonington, Connecticut; a 26-year-old woman from Pawtucket, Rhode Island; and a 25-year-old woman from Providence, Rhode Island.
No charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
“The cause of this crash remains under investigation,” police said.
The scene was cleared by 8:30 a.m.
