1 dead following vehicle-plow crash in West Roxbury early Thursday

Officials used the jaws of life to pull the victim from the vehicle, they said.

Boston police are investigating a fatal crash in West Roxbury early Thursday morning.A vehicle and a truck collided near 5343 Washington St. around 1:12 a.m., police said.The victim, a man driving the vehicle, was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. Two other people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

“Initial information indicates that the vehicle the victim was operating struck a pick up truck equipped with a snow plow and sand spreader,” Boston police spokesman Stephen McNulty said in an email to The Boston Globe.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to pull the driver from the vehicle, Brian Alkins, a spokesman for the city’s fire department, told the Globe.
