Taunton man dies in Route 24 crash
The crash occurred early Wednesday morning in West Bridgewater.
A crash on Route 24 southbound in West Bridgewater early Wednesday morning left a Taunton man dead.Dwayne Williams, 46, driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz, crashed into the back of an Isuzu box truck, driven by a 71-year-old Whitman man, shortly after 2 a.m., according to a state police release. Police say the Isuzu had just begun merging from the breakdown lane into the first travel lane, at a much slower speed than Williams’s approaching Chevrolet Cruz.
“Williams was unable to slow enough without colliding with the box truck,” police said.
Williams was extricated from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Isuzu was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton for treatment of minor injuries, police say.
The crash remains under investigation.
