Man struck and killed by commuter rail train at Norwood Depot station
Officials said to expect "significant" delays if you’re traveling into Boston on the Franklin Line.
A man was struck and killed by an MBTA commuter rail train Tuesday morning at Norwood Depot station, prompting officials to urge travelers to seek alternate transportation as service was “significantly delayed,” authorities said. Norwood Police Chief William Brooks said trains in both directions on the Franklin Line were held up around 8:20 a.m. after the person was hit.

Information about the man who was struck was not immediately available.
“Franklin Line passengers, please be advised about this incident,” the commuter rail wrote on Twitter. “We will get everyone moving again as quickly as possible but significant delays are expected.”

The transportation agency urged passengers to “seek alternate transportation where possible,” with trains expected to be more than 30 minutes behind schedule.
Transit police are on the scene investigating. Authorities initially said the incident occurred at nearby Norwood Central station.
