Man fatally struck by plow while changing tire

A 64-year-old Easton man was fatally struck by a pickup truck with a plow on Route 138 Wednesday afternoon. According to a preliminary investigation, the man had pulled over in the breakdown lane near 70 Washington St. (Route 138) and was attempting to change a tire when he was hit shortly before 1 p.m., Easton police and fire officials said in a statement. His identity was being withheld pending family notification. Two bystanders were performing CPR on the man when paramedics arrived, authorities said. He was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, where he died from his injuries.The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, officials said. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
