Lynn man arrested for nonfatal Chinatown stabbing, police say
Valenz Joisil, 24, was arrested at a hospital following an investigation.
An investigation following a nonfatal Chinatown stabbing Saturday night led authorities to arrest a Lynn man Sunday morning at a hospital as he received treatment for a minor injury he suffered during the alleged attack, police said.
Valenz Joisil, 24, faces charges of attempted murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon after officials alleged he stabbed a man in his late 20s near 660 Washington St., according to a statement from Boston police.
An officer found the victim suffering from apparent stab wounds around 8:46 p.m. Saturday. Police said the man initially refused medical treatment and did not cooperate with authorities but later went to a nearby hospital.
His injuries are considered nonlife-threatening, authorities said.
Joisil was identified as a suspect after police gathered evidence and carried out a crime scene investigation near Harrison Avenue and Essex Street, officials said.
He was found and arrested around 5:45 a.m. Sunday at a local hospital where he went for treatment for a “minor laceration sustained during the incident,” police said.
“While placing the suspect in custody, officers performed a pat frisk and recovered a knife from inside the suspect’s coat which was seized as evidence and has been turned in for processing,” authorities said in the statement.
Joisil is slated to arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
