2 snowmobilers collide on N.H. trail, suffer serious injuries

PITTSBURG, N.H. (AP) — Authorities say two snowmobilers have been hurt in a collision on a northern New Hampshire trail.

State Fish and Game conservation officers say it appears 25-year-old Richard Walker Jr., of Lincoln, Rhode Island, failed to keep to the right side of a trail while negotiating a right-hand corner Sunday afternoon in Pittsburg. The snowmobile drifted into the oncoming path and collided with a snowmobile operated by 63-year-old Craig Dennis, of Milton, Vermont.

Both men suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They were put on rescue sleds, then taken by helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Officers said both were wearing proper riding gear, including helmets with eye protection.
