Police: 75-year-old trucker had 150 pounds of illegal marijuana
STOUGHTON, Mass. (AP) — Police in Massachusetts say they pulled over a 75-year-old man driving a box truck containing 150 pounds of black market marijuana worth as much as $500,000.
Irvin Ulshen, of Ashburnham, was arraigned Thursday on a marijuana trafficking charge.
Police stopped Ulshen in Canton on Wednesday after he picked up a large shipment from a shipping company. Investigators executing a search warrant say they found 100 vacuum sealed bags of pot in the vehicle.
Ulshen told investigators he thought he was picking up a woodworking tool from his son that had been shipped from California.
His attorney, John Gugliemi, tells WHDH-TV his client is a part-time truck driver who has “never had any involvement in the court system in 75 years.”
Ulshen was held on $2,000 cash bail.
