One victim suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.
Three teenagers were hospitalized with serious injuries after the Tesla SUV they were in struck a tree, split in two, and lit ablaze Wednesday night in Rindge, New Hampshire, police said.
The 2017 Tesla Model X was traveling eastbound on Perry Road before it left the roadway and crashed, according to New Hampshire State Police, who said in a statement that troopers responded to the scene around 8:13 p.m.
Authorities said the driver, Travis Olson, 17, of Rindge, and one passenger, Chelsea Holombo, 17, of New Ipswich, were brought to Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough with serious but nonlife-threatening injuries.
Nina Colasanto, 19, another passenger also from New Ipswich, was brought to UMass Medical Center in Worcester while suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to officials.
Police said nearby citizens helped the victims before emergency crews arrived on scene. While the crash is still under investigation, authorities said speed appears to have been a factor.
