Winthrop man struck by own van, suffers severe leg injury
A 61-year-old Winthrop man suffered a serious leg injury Friday evening when he was apparently struck by his own 15-passenger van after getting out of it in a Winthrop parking lot, police said.
The man, who was not identified, was found on the ground of a CVS lot on Woodside Avenue next to his white van at approximately 6 p.m., Chief Terence Delehanty said in a statement.
Officers aided the man until Winthrop fire and emergency medical officials from Action Ambulance arrived, Delehanty said.
The man was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
