A Boston man and woman were arrested for kidnapping after their alleged victim broke away
The pair pulled a knife on their victim and demanded cash, authorities said.
A Boston man and woman were arrested for kidnapping after their alleged victim broke away and found police officers on Boston Common, authorities say.
Damian Gray, 41, and Danisha Johnson, 43, allegedly robbed and threatened a male victim, who was not identified, at knifepoint inside their apartment Tuesday morning, police said in a statement.
The victim told police he left a lounge in the Theater District around 2 a.m. with Gray and Johnson, who he met there, and agreed to go to their apartment.
“After some time had passed, (Gray) and (Johnson) began talking about crack cocaine, causing the victim to feel uncomfortable,” police said. “When the victim attempted to leave, (Gray) grabbed him by his shirt collar and threatened him with a knife.”
Gray demanded that the victim transfer money through an electronic money order, according to police. When he left to go to a nearby store to get the cash, the victim fled the apartment, officials said.
Around 10:01 a.m., the victim approached police officers patrolling Boston Common and told them he had been kidnapped. At the time, the victim was not wearing a jacket or shoes.
An investigation quickly identified Gray and Johnson, and the pair was arrested without incident.
Both suspects face charges of kidnapping and armed robbery and will appear in Boston Municipal Court, police said.
