Firefighters battle 2-alarm blaze near South Station
One firefighter was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
A two-alarm blaze at a 12-story commercial building at 245 Summer St. in Downtown Boston was knocked down as of 2:51 p.m., according to the city’s fire department. The fire was in a basement electrical vault in the building, which is next to South Station.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, the department said on Twitter at 1:30 p.m. No other injuries were reported.

Over 2,500 employees in the building were evacuated safely, according to the department. Officials were called to the scene at 12:14 p.m. due to a smoke alarm going off. They reported that there was “heavy smoke” in the back of the building.
