‘That’s an awfully big puddle’: Wrentham police warn drivers after finding car submerged in water

"Listen to that little voice."

Wrentham police found this car submerged in water Sunday afternoon.

Wrentham police have some advice for drivers: Sometimes it’s best to listen to the “little voice” inside your head.

Authorities found a car almost completely submerged in water Sunday afternoon, prompting police Chief Bill McGrath to offer motorists the recommendation on Facebook.

Soooo, when that little voice in your head says, ‘that’s an awfully big puddle, maybe I should stop and turn around….’ Yeah, listen to that little voice,” McGrath wrote alongside a photo of the vehicle.

McGrath told Boston.com Monday the car was discovered and reported by an ATV rider in the area. Its owner was in the process of having it towed when police responded, he said.

The car was stuck in an undeveloped area with an emergency access road that runs behind the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets off Route 1A.

The stretch of land, which flooded Sunday, attracts a lot of off-roading enthusiasts, according to McGrath.

“(The driver) didn’t anticipate that the puddle had tuned into the lake,” he said.

No injuries were reported, and no charges were filed against the driver, according to McGrath. First responders were able to pull the vehicle from the water, he said.
