20-year-old woman dies, 2 seriously injured after car hits tree in Heath
The 2001 Toyota Camry was traveling on Dell Road before the crash, according to officials.
A 20-year-old Shelburne Falls woman died and two other people were seriously injured after a car they were in crashed into a tree Sunday night in Heath, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Authorities responded around 7:45 p.m. to the single-car crash on Dell Road, officials said in a statement. A preliminary investigation showed the 2001 Toyota Camry left the roadway and struck the the tree head-on.
It remained unclear Monday morning why the car went off the road and who was driving it, police said. The three occupants of the car were found outside of it when troopers arrived.
The Shelburne Falls woman, who has not been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The two injured — a 21-year-old woman from Colrain and a 28-year-old man from Hinsdale, New Hampshire — were brought to Bay State Medical Center for treatment, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
