Mass. man struck, killed standing in front of his disabled truck

SOMERSET, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts man standing in front of his disabled pickup truck has been struck and killed on the side of a highway.

State police say the 66-year-old Somerset man was hit Friday on I-195 near Exit 4 at around noon.

The man, who police have not identified, was in front of his truck with the hood up in the acceleration lane when another car struck his vehicle from behind.

The man and the other driver, a 60-year-old Swansea woman, were taken to the hospital where the man was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating and haven’t identified the victim or the other driver.
