N.H. man dead after car veers off Route 3 in Chelmsford

Police think the driver may have had a medical issue before the crash.

A 63- year-old man from Bristol, New Hampshire, is dead after police say the vehicle he was driving went off the right side of Route 3 southbound in Chelmsford on Sunday and landed in water.An off-duty state trooper called in the incident around 5:04 p.m. and went into the water to try to help the driver, identified Monday morning as Kenneth A. Rossi. Other state police arrived, and Rossi was pulled from the 2011 BMW X3. He was unresponsive and pronounced dead at Lowell General Hospital. He was the only person in the vehicle, according to police.Officials believe Rossi may have suffered a medical issue that caused the crash, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
