The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Boston was reported vandalized Thursday afternoon, with the damage sustained including the destruction of an American flag, according to a Massachusetts State Police press release.
A woman noticed the defacing of the tribute, located at 172 Morrissey Blvd. in Dorchester, and reported it to troopers in the South Boston Barracks, police said.

Police concluded that a vandal — or multiple — caused “extensive damage” to both the memorial and surrounding area, with thrown bricks leaving marks on the stone, the release said.
“An American flag was cut and a Massachusetts flag was taken off the flagpole and found near the woodline with trash dumped on top of it,” police said.
