Charlestown man arrested after shots fired in Roxbury

A Charlestown man is facing gun-related charges after police say he fired a handgun in the area of Prentiss and Albert streets in Roxbury on Monday, dropped the weapon in a trash can, and fled on foot.Isaiah Wilson, 18, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, according to a news release from Boston police. Police were called to the area at 10:28 a.m. for a report of shots fired and found “ballistic evidence” on the ground. They soon found the Smith and Wesson M&P handgun in the trash.Officers then saw Wilson, who matched the suspect’s description, heading toward the Ruggles MBTA station, according to police. An officer working a detail nearby stopped him.
