Death of 5-month-old girl in Watertown prompts investigation

The death of a 5-month-old girl has prompted an investigation by the Middlesex District Attorney and Watertown Police.Law enforcement responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive infant at 2:16 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Watertown Street in Watertown, according to a statement from Marian Ryan, the district attorney. The 5-month-old was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, the statement said.
No further information has been released at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
