New Hampshire correctional officer riding bicycle fatally hit by minivan
Patrick Bettens, 41, of Concord, was riding his bike when he was stuck and killed by a silver Honda Odyssey Wednesday.
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Authorities say a correctional officer at the New Hampshire State Prison died after the bicycle he was riding was hit by a vehicle.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon in Concord.

Preliminary reports show the bicycle ridden by 41-year-old Patrick Bettens, of Concord, was traveling north when it was struck by a silver Honda Odyssey.
Bettens later died at a hospital.

Corrections Commissioner Helen Hanks said Bettens served as a mentor for many.
The crash is under investigation.
