Body of Rowley man recovered off Crane Beach

The body of a Rowley man was recovered Monday morning off the coast of Crane Beach, according to the Ipswich Police Department. A local fishermen discovered the body — later identified as 46-year-old Sean Maney — in the surf around 7:30 a.m., police said. Officers recovered the body a short time later.Maney was last heard from Sunday night, and was determined to have been alone in his boat, according to police.
A preliminary investigation indicates an accidental drowning, police said.
Ipswich Marine units boarded Maney’s boat Monday and conducted an investigation, and the boat’s dinghy was recovered after a Coast Guard helicopter located it in a nearby marshland, police said.
High winds Sunday and Monday created unusually rough and choppy conditions on area waterways, and officials Monday urged boaters to use extreme caution.
