Sedan collides with police cruiser in Burlington

The sedan’s driver, a 31-year-old Boston woman, and the officer were taken to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

A 31-year-old Boston woman driving a sedan collided with a police cruiser Sunday night on Route 3A in Burlington, according to the town’s police department.

Police responded to the crash around 8:15 p.m. in the area of 276 Cambridge St. (Route 3A).

The initial investigation indicates the woman was driving a 2017 Nissan Altima southbound on Route 3A when she crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic, colliding with the Burlington officer’s marked SUV, which was traveling north, according to police. The officer was on patrol at the time of the crash.

Following the initial impact, the woman’s sedan continued and veered off the road, where it struck and damaged a commercial building, police said.
