New Hampshire crash leaves woman, 14-year-old girl dead

The driver, Aaron Lafontaine, 28, of Manchester, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash.

A single-car crash in Exeter, New Hampshire, on Wednesday night left two people dead and one seriously injured, according to New Hampshire State Police.  Aaron Lafontaine, 28, of Manchester, was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Route 101 in the area of Exit 9 when he lost control, veered off the roadway, and rolled over around 8:40 p.m., police said in a release. Both passengers — Rebecca Lafontaine, 39, of Manchester, and a 14-year-old girl — died as a result of the crash.Rebecca Lafontaine was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The 14-year-old girl was transported to Exeter Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. Aaron Lafontaine was first brought to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was then transferred by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital, authorities said. His condition as of Thursday afternoon was not known.

Police said speed initially appears to have been a factor in the crash, but the investigation remains ongoing.
