Boston police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man in connection to a non-fatal shooting that occurred in the area of 998 Blue Hill Ave. in Mattapan around 11:34 a.m. Tuesday.
Police released surveillance photos of the man Wednesday, noting: “These images are being released for identification purposes only. This person is NOT wanted at this time.”

On Tuesday, the man reportedly entered a business and requested a bathroom key. Shortly after, witnesses heard a “bang” in the bathroom and, upon entering, saw the victim on the floor, police said. The man was seen leaving the store slowly and then ran down Blue Hill Avenue toward Callendar Street, according to police.
Police said the victim was taken to an area hospital with an injury that wasn’t considered to be life threatening. The Boston Globe reported that the victim was a woman who had been shot in the face. A police spokeswoman wouldn’t confirm those details Wednesday.
The incident remains under investigation.
