Woman pulled from Rhode Island pond unresponsive, later pronounced dead

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — Police in Rhode Island say a 78-year-old woman pulled unresponsive from a South Kingstown pond has been pronounced dead.
South Kingstown police say they were called to Larkin Pond where an unresponsive woman was pulled from the water Tuesday afternoon. Lifeguards were performing CPR on the woman when first responders arrived, and officials attempted to resuscitate the woman for 30 minutes before she was rushed to a hospital.
She was later pronounced dead. The cause of her death is under investigation.
The identity of the woman is not being released at this time.
