Police investigating fatal motorcycle crash on I-495 in Chelmsford
CHELMSFORD, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal crash between a car and motorcycle.
Troopers responded to reports of crash in Chelmsford on Route 495 on Monday afternoon.
A preliminary assessment by troopers found a motorcycle struck the rear of a Mercedes -Benz sedan.
Police say 48-year-old motorcyclist David Mains of Raymond, Maine was transported by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he died.
His passenger, a 48-year-old woman also from Raymond, was transported to Lowell General Hospital and taken to Tufts Medical Center for further medical care for serious injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz Sedan and her passenger were not injured. The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been sought.
