Police: Man under the influence goes on destructive drive

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (AP) — Police have arrested a man they say was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he went on a destructive drive in two states in which several vehicles and an electronic street sign were damaged.

Blackstone police say they administered the overdose-reversing drug Narcan when they found 59-year-old William Halfelder bleeding outside of his van at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Police determined he had rear-ended one vehicle, run a red light, and struck another vehicle head-on. The other drivers were taken to the hospital.

Before driving into Blackstone, police say he had been in neighboring Woonsocket, Rhode Island, striking other vehicles and the sign.
