At least four teenage males dead in East Bridgewater crash
EAST BRIDGEWATER — At least four teenage males were killed and another injured in a horrific rollover car crash on Route 106 here late Saturday afternoon, according to Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz.
Authorities responded to a report of a car into a tree at a home on West Street at about 4:30 p.m., Cruz said at a press conference at the scene Saturday night.
Three men were declared dead on the scene, he said.
Another was taken to the Brockton Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, he said.
Another male was taken to the Boston Medical Center for treatment, Cruz said.
It’s too early in the investigation to determine if speed or rainy weather were factors in the crash, he said.
“It’s very early in the investigation and there’s a lot of work to be done,’’ Cruz said.
He commended East Bridgewater police and fire for their response to the crash that occurred near the intersection of West and Laurel streets.
An overturned sedan flipped over and came to a rest by a tree in the front yard of a home on West Street. The car was covered with a white sheet Saturday night.
State Police are also responded to the scene.
Officials with the East Bridgewater police and fire departments, and the State Police did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Globe Saturday night.
The crash occurred on a busy stretch of road, just a few yards from Johnny Macaroni’s restaurant and West Street Auto Sales.
An employee at the restaurant declined to comment. There was no answer at West Street Auto Sales.
