Fire that collapses home kills 2 in Bar Harbor
Police have not identified the victims of the fire beyond saying that they are likely related.
BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP) — Investigators say a house fire in Bar Harbor that caused the home to collapse into its basement killed two people and injured two others.
The fatal blaze happened on Sunday morning. Authorities say the 2½-story home collapsed, and the fire was reported at about 8 a.m. Investigators had to use an excavator to remove rubble, and bodies of two people were recovered later in the day.
The Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to conduct an examination on Monday. Police have not identified the victims of the fire beyond saying that they are likely related.
