Person rescued by firefighters from manhole in Boston
The city’s Inspectional Services Department is investigating the incident.
Boston firefighters rescued a person trapped in a manhole early Thursday morning. The fire department said firefighters responded to a call around 3:45 a.m. after the person, whose name has not been released, became stuck behind 45 School St. “Unknown if person fell or ascended into manhole,” the department said.

The person was transported by Boston EMS for treatment of injuries that were not considered life threatening, according to fire officials.
