Boston mayor, hundreds of other participants climbing steps for charity
BOSTON (AP) — Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and hundreds of others are running up 60 flights of stairs to raise money to support victims of child abuse.
The “Ginormous Climb” is being held Saturday at 200 Clarendon St, formerly known as the John Hancock Tower.
The annual event raises money for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County, which helps young victims of sexual and physical violence.
I’m honored to join the brave superheroes fighting against child abuse and violence at today’s #GinormousClimb with @SuffolkCAC. Thank you to everyone who took steps to increase awareness about child exploitation. pic.twitter.com/SnblBInB1W

Walsh is being joined at the event by Boston Police Commissioner William Evans and Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley.
Organizers hope Saturday’s event will help them reach $500,000 raised for the center in the five years the climb has been held.
