MBTA police: Boston man stole from unconscious man, who was later pronounced dead
A man stole from an unconscious man in an MBTA station early Monday morning, and the victim of the theft was later pronounced dead, transit police said.
Officers responded to a radio call for a medical emergency around 5 a.m. at Downtown Crossing station and found the unconscious 52-year-old. They undertook live saving measures, but he was soon pronounced dead on the scene by Boston EMS.
According to police, an investigation found that a man, later identified as Anthony Stimson, of Boston, had gone through the man’s belongings and stole from him. Police say Stimson didn’t call for help for the victim.
Officers soon located the 30-year-old on Summer Street and placed him into custody. Stimson had a prescription pill bottle with the deceased man’s name on it, police said.
