Here are some of the best New England photos from this weekend’s supermoon
The past weekend’s supermoon provided plenty of opportunities for photographers. Though the moon was officially full on Sunday, it rose at more than 99 percent from Saturday to Monday.
A supermoon occurs when the moon is relatively close to Earth in its elliptical orbit, so it appears bigger than usual.
Here are some of the best pictures of the supermoon posted on social media from around New England.

A short #timelapse of this morning’s #supermoon setting over St. George’s School in Middletown, RI before it disappeared into the clouds. Hopefully a better showing this afternoon:/ #fullmoon #riwx @ericfisher @NWSBoston @KeiPalCBS @tony_tpetrarca @JimCantore @JenCarfagno @Wx_Max pic.twitter.com/31h5r7VQMb

Best #supermoon photo I’ve seen yet from Wayne C. in Hull. Looking back over Boston (this was as it set early on Sunday morning). #wbz pic.twitter.com/vhqJ6v70WI
