Blake Shelton sends video message for grieving Quoaboag students after fatal crash
As members of a central Massachusetts community continue to grieve after three students were killed in a West Brookfield car crash last month, they received a touching message from country music star Blake Shelton.
In a video message, Shelton tells Quaboag Regional Middle High School students:
Hey guys, this is Blake Shelton here. I’m out in the middle of the woods in Oklahoma, but I just was made aware of the car accident, and, man, it breaks my heart. I completely know how it feels — I lost my brother in a car accident. … I can understand how you guys feel. It’s the worst possible feeling. It’s confusion. It’s anger. It’s just an overall brokenness. It’s just going to take a lot of time to heal. And if you can find comfort in anything, it’s just knowing that they’re all in a better place now, and God has a plan. And I still miss my brother every day, and you’re gonna miss those guys every day. Just wanted to say I’m thinking of you and it gets easier. It just takes a long time, but just always honor their memory and never forget about them. God bless you guys, I’m praying for you.
Shelton’s message appears about 3 minutes and 36 seconds into a longer tribute video posted on Facebook. The tribute includes pictures of the classmates backed by Cassadee Pope singing “Over You,” which Shelton co-wrote with Miranda Lambert in honor of his brother.

The three students, Lena Noonan, 16, Christian Congelos, 15, and Jaclyn Desrosiers, 14, attended Quaboag in Warren, according to The Boston Globe. They were all pronounced dead at the scene of the one-car rollover crash on November 7.
A West Brookfield community member whose father grew up with Shelton’s mother sent word of the crash to the singer, according to the Telegram & Gazette.
Shelton recorded the message on November 13, the 27th anniversary of his brother’s death, the newspaper reported. Richie Shelton died in a car crash in Oklahoma when Shelton was 14.
