Uber driver allegedly assaulted woman during ride in Quincy and refused to let her out of the car

A 46-year-old Uber driver from West Roxbury was arrested Wednesday in Quincy after police received a report that he sexually assaulted a passenger and would not let her out of the vehicle.
Kastriot Naksi was charged with indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 years old and kidnapping, according to the Quincy Police Department. He was arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday where he was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for December 6.
Police said in a statement that they received a call around 12:58 p.m. from a woman who said her friend told her she’d been “sexually assaulted by an Uber driver and the driver was scheduled to drop the victim off on Cottage Ave.”
Officers responded to Cottage Avenue where they spoke with the woman who called.
“She told officers that she had received a text message from the victim that indicated the Uber driver had touched her inappropriately and that he would not let her out of the vehicle,” police said. “The victim sent her friend a screenshot of her current location.”
A BOLO was issued for the Uber vehicle, a gray Honda Civic, according to police. Around 1:20 p.m., the vehicle was seen by officers on Cottage Avenue and was stopped.
Police said the victim told officers that she was on her way to Quincy in the ride-hailing vehicle when Naksi pulled over to the side of the road and told her to get in the front seat.
“The victim stated that this was a ride-share Uber, so she agreed,” police said. “She stated that the driver then touched her inappropriately. When she told the driver to stop and let her out, he locked the door. At that point she texted her friend.”
Attorney information for Naksi was not immediately available.
Reached for comment, Uber confirmed Naksi was a driver for the company.
“What’s been described is deeply concerning,” an Uber spokesperson said in a statement. “Upon learning of this, we immediately removed the driver’s access to the app and we stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation.”
