Watch: New Hampshire home swept away, destroyed by flood

A house in Warren, New Hampshire was destroyed Monday after floodwaters washed it down a river, forcing it into and ultimately under a bridge.

Footage of the one-story home being carried down the Baker River before smashing into the bridge was posted Monday on Facebook by Tom Babbit, a resident of the small northwestern New Hampshire town.

“This is so sad,” Babbit wrote.

The shocking video was among the many images of chaos New England awoke to Monday, following Sunday night’s powerful storm, which resulted in damage, flooding, and widespread power outages across the region.

Babbit told The Boston Globe that the owners of the house, who he said he believes uses it as a summer or vacation home, were not on the property Monday.

Babbit wrote on a Facebook that a previous storm in July “washed away several hundred feet of their property.”

“They did some river bank repairs that did not hold up,” he said.
