Former Medford school counselor convicted of child rape

A former high school counselor in Medford was convicted Friday of raping a 15-year-old male student she had befriended, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement.

Jenna Tarabelsi, 33, of Waltham, was found guilty by a Middlesex Superior Court jury of two counts of rape of a child, according to the statement.

Tarabelsi worked as a career counselor at Medford Vocational Technical High School from 2012 to 2015. The incident occurred in early 2014 in a parking lot in Stoneham after school, prosecutors said.

When school officials learned of the assault in 2015, Tarabelsi was suspended, according to the statement.

Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 26.
