John Cena joins the ‘army’ of a 6-year-old Framingham boy with brain cancer

WWE wrestler and West Newbury native John Cena paid a hospital visit to a 6-year-old Framingham boy with an aggressive form of brain cancer on Wednesday.

Devin’s mom Christine Suau posted pictures on Facebook of Cena at the hospital wearing a shirt with the hashtag #WhyNotDevin.

“As John Cena said ‘you have quite the army!’ Thank you so much for all those who reached out to John Cena on our behalf. Today some scared boys smiled- BIG. John’s motto is Never Give Up and we couldn’t agree more! Thank you John Cena for joining our army,” Christine Suau wrote.

She told Boston 25 news that Devin called John Cena’s name several times during the Devin’s Dash 5k Fundraiser in Framingham last week.

Since Devin’s diagnosis of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma in January, his family has used the hashtag to raise awareness of the incurable cancer. His story has gained widespread attention, even from Tom Brady. Last week, Mayor Marty Walsh declared Oct. 27, 2017 as Devin Suau Day.
