Pedestrian struck by vehicle and killed near highway exit in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle on a Rhode Island highway and killed.

State police say the crash occurred Monday night in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Providence.

Troopers say the victim was struck by the vehicle near Exit 20 at the merge with Interstate 195 East and later was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the state police’s Lincoln Woods Barracks.
