The Obama Foundation is hosting a civics ‘training day’ in Boston
The Obama Foundation, the former president’s post-White House venture, wants young people to become the next civic leaders of America.
The foundation announced Wednesday that it will hold three “training days” this fall in various cities, including Boston, to do just that.
“We’ve also heard from thousands of young people just getting engaged for the first time, asking for help on how to get started. So, we’re putting together a series of Training Days across the country — starting in Chicago — to teach young people how to put civics into action where they live,” the former president said in an email to supporters.
According to the foundation’s website, the Training Days for 150 participants ages 18 to 24 will launch in Chicago on Oct. 14, then move to Tempe on Nov. 11 and Boston on Nov. 18. The foundation says it will collaborate with “diverse” organizations in those communities.
The foundation will also hold its first two-day summit on Oct. 31 to bring together “hundreds of civic leaders from all around the world to Chicago for a hands-on exchange of ideas.”
